An Evening with Shane Claiborne

Friday, November 18, 7:00pm

Author and activist Shane Claiborne will be visiting UBC in November to talk about his new book, Executing Grace: How the Death Penalty Killed Jesus and Why It’s Killing Us. The event is being sponsored by UBC, Move United Church, and Ohioans to Stop Executions.
Claiborne is a founding partner of The Simple Way, an intentional Christian community in Philadelphia, and is considered one of the leaders of the New Monastic movement. He is the author of The Irresistible Revolution, Jesus for President, and Red Letter Christians (with Tony Campolo).

NSI Thanksgiving baskets

Assembly: Wednesday, November 16
Delivery: November 18, 21, 22

UBC is once again participating in Neighborhood Services, Inc.’s effort to provide Thanksgiving baskets to our neighbors in the University District. Our congregation’s designated item is canned green beans. Bring a can or two to church with you any Sunday between now and November 13. In addition, NSI needs volunteers to assemble the baskets on Wednesday, November 16, and to deliver them on Friday the 18th, Monday the 21st, and Tuesday the 22nd. If you are interested in helping, contact the church office.

Mission trip

Spring Break 2017

UBC is planning a week-long mission trip over spring break 2017, and we would like for you to be a part of it! We are looking at a Sunday-to-Friday service-learning trip somewhere within driving distance in the US or Canada, and we’re currently soliciting suggestions for the destination. If you would like to be part of the team that will plan, organize, publicize, and raise funds for the trip, contact Pastor Bob Turner.
